Hi, I'm Ana Lugo, Marketing Director at MVLUCKY
You may know me as the person behind those fancy or inspiring messages you've received, or at least the one who put the finishing touches on them before they reached you. Sure, there's a whole amazing team working behind the scenes, but if something touched your heart, chances are it's been approved by me. Martha always tells me I'm good at making things look prettier.
I was recently asked to write a blog about my work at MVLUCKY and my journey here. I was actually hoping for a moment when I felt a bit like Carrie Bradshaw , Emily in Paris , or, why not, a Gossip Girl writing her next column. I've always enjoyed writing; I've kept journals for as long as I can remember, and those who know me know I'm pretty good at it. Of course, I felt like Carrie every time I wrote in one of my journals! LOL.
Fashion and me: a natural connection
Working at MVLUCKY has been, to put it one way, an unexpected adventure. I never imagined that “working” could feel so… pleasurable. Since I was little, I have been passionate about fashion and have always had a unique style. Instead of following all the trends, I often prefer the unusual: I have worn my grandmother’s size 18 dresses transformed into a size 2, thanks to the magic of a good designer (since I have an aunt who makes wedding dresses!) . I have had that creative eye since I was a child , so imagine how natural it was to come across a brand like MVLUCKY, where my style and my vision of fashion align perfectly.
I am the one who dares to wear cowboy boots in the middle of summer with 40 degrees in my beautiful Culiacán. People even ask me if I am in a play! But it doesn't bother me anymore; on the contrary, it is my hallmark. It is also the hallmark of MVLUCKY: the brand for those who dare, as Karla Martínez, director of Vogue Mexico and Latin America, said at one of the Vogue events we participated in this year.
But anyway, back to Ana. Hahaha, sorry, I'm so passionate about talking about MVLUCKY that sometimes I lose the thread. I promise to try to make this not “The life of MVLUCKY” but rather “Ana's life in MVLUCKY ”.
How MVLUCKY came into my life
Arriving at the place where the magic happens is a reminder of how it all began. MVLUCKY came into my life at a time when I had a day off and needed something that would really move my mind and heart. I have always believed that nothing is a coincidence, and I remember that, in the interview, Martha, the founder of the brand, told me: “Always stay true to yourself, and if something doesn’t appeal to you, don’t do it.” It was a phrase I needed to hear, and so began my journey at MVLUCKY, one day a week and five hours.
Little by little, I discovered the love, creativity and dedication behind each bag. Fashion has always fascinated me and my first bag (which I still have) arrived when I was 12, from an aunt who brought it from New York, a bit small for a designer bag, but I longed for it so much. At MVLUCKY, however, I began to see bags in a different way, appreciating the creative minds behind each one and understood what luxury truly means: bold, unique and handmade pieces for people who want to stand out. I still keep my first MVLUCKY as a work of art.
My passion for MVLUCKY
My routine starts with a good coffee and a podcast as I get ready for the office. I am lucky enough not to drive, so I spend the journey catching up on fashion trends and news from journalists I admire. If I had to recommend a few, it would be Melissa Jauregui, Manual de Moda, Noise and Rodrigo Battista, Fashion office, because there is incredible talent in Mexico covering fashion. That car ride is a sacred moment.
As a marketer at MVLUCKY, my days feel like a marathon in heels, between reviewing sales statistics, coordinating advertising campaigns , and ensuring that production quality is always on par with what we promise. From overseeing documents to creating fresh content ideas, my role is quite the juggling act .
Sometimes, I feel like a conductor, but instead of a baton, I have a bag (obviously MVLUCKY). Stress? It's my constant companion! I'm not going to lie, sometimes I'd like to switch off but always with a smile, because all this chaos, pressure, and moments of uncertainty translate into visual stories like the ones that create our advertising campaigns. Think of that giant newspaper article or the styling of the bags we've used to communicate their essence and functionality. Between laughs, numbers, and a lot of coordination, my job is to make sure that MVLUCKY not only looks good, but feels like a reflection of the unique people who choose it.
Is it easy? Not always. Not everyone understands how complex it is to manage the export of handbags, exhibit in Madrid or appear in the best fashion editorials in the world. Only the products that really inspire make it into magazines. Getting those publications is like a relationship: no matter how great you are, it's not enough to just show up; you have to captivate again and again, something that Martha and MVLUCKY have managed to do. Oh, and spending more than 60 hours at events, giving your best and wearing heels, should be considered an Olympic sport. LOL.

From insecurity to full confidence
I always tell all the girls who come up to me and tell me that they love my confidence when leading projects or speaking in public during our events, that, in my first few months, I wasn't so sure of myself. Today, seeing how much I've changed, I can't help but smile. I remember the first time I was at the most important Latin American design fair, I could hardly believe where I was. On my second participation, people came up to me to tell me that my energy was incredible, that I transmitted peace... That day, I sold many bags.
That confidence, that inner peace I feel, I owe a lot to MVLUCKY. I think the true value of our brand lies in the fact that it empowers us in a unique way. It gives us such a powerful security that it is impossible not to feel confident when wearing something so exclusive and unique. Our collections are small, and they are carefully distributed in different points of sale around the world. Each bag we create carries with it a touch of value, something that reminds us that we have the power, and we carry it proudly in our hands, showing off something more than just an accessory.

Goals and vision for the future
My goals and vision for the future combine both the professional and the personal. My main objective is to feel fulfilled with myself, without losing sight of my passion for what I do and, of course, love. Lately, it has become clear to me that if I define my goals and objectives well, everything is possible. So, in the next five years, I see myself participating in the most important international fashion events, representing MVLUCKY and achieving everything I set out to do.
Who am I beyond work?
Outside of work, my creativity is nourished from a place that is a bit unexpected for those who only see Ana's urban and fashionista side. Believe it or not, I love nature and country life. I really enjoy visiting my parents ' house in Ensenada, it's like my safe place. You would have to see it to understand. You can see me riding a horse or surrounded by animals in corrals, with cows and sheep, and I really find inspiration in the imperfect perfection of nature. I enjoy running in the mountains or simply sitting down to contemplate the landscape with a good glass of wine or a coffee.
A few years ago, I had a pet sheep named Oliver , and believe me, it was quite an experience. I even walked him on a leash around town! Everyone would come up to see him; he was like a miniature celebrity. I still get emotional seeing those memories and how those simple, authentic moments stay in your heart.
My inspirations are my guides. I learn from brands that have endured over the years, those that with their legacy prove that elegance and style can stand the test of time and remain relevant.
So, yes, this is me, Ana Lugo : a combination of love for fashion, influences ranging from Coco Chanel to a sheep named Oliver, and dreams that, although challenging, I am sure will one day come true. I don't know if I changed, if it was MVLUCKY or if age has made me mature a lot, but what I do know is that I am not the same person as when I came here. I am a better version of Ana, and strangely that magic is held by MVLUCKY bags. When you use one, you feel that it empowers you. I have become so demanding and vain too, hahaha, that I always want to only carry MVLUCKY bags. Recently I am using the bag that came from the Paris editorial of Harper's Bazaar, the tote bag. And who wouldn't feel that empowered wearing a bag that was part of that important magazine?
And of course, I invite you to follow our social media and subscribe to our newsletter. Keep an eye out for our upcoming collection, “Paris”! , a series of unique and elegant pieces that you will surely love. At MVLUCKY, our bags are not mass produced; be sure to keep an eye out for the pre-sale so you don’t miss out on yours!
This year 2024 we are delighted with the incredible response to our collection of fabric bags. These designs not only stand out for their lightness, but are also extremely comfortable to wear, adapting to your active lifestyle without compromising on chic style.
On behalf of the entire MVLUCKY team , I would like to deeply thank you for your preference and trust in our brand. We value and recognize all the people who dare to break trends and invest in accessories that, without a doubt, are already and will continue to be a trend globally.
